As AI genies make programming more joyful in some ways, more fraught in others, how can we as individuals & teams adapt? How can we track a rapidly changing landscape of tools & still get stuff done? How can we communicate our new powers, strengths & weaknesses, to those without direct experience of programming? The Forest & Desert is a dialectical framing of software development as either resource-rich & resource replenishing or continually near starvation. The genie promises to intensify both experiences.
