With each conference GOTO organizes, we make the commitment to produce an event with integrity, respect for the environment and a commitment to positive social impact. We’re well aware of the unnecessary waste that comes with large events, so we’re working particularly hard on all the ways we can reduce our environmental footprint.

This includes reusing signage as often as possible, asking our partners to be conscious about any swag they bring to the conference and working with venues who have sustainability in mind in all that they deliver.

To help with these efforts, we’re once again working with Ecoisa for our second big event of the year:

For every GOTO Berlin attendee, one tree will be planted where it’s needed most.

Ecosia, a search engine that uses their profits to plant trees, provides a platform that fits the user’s needs while allowing them to make sustainable choices with the tech they use. And they’re transparent in everything they do by publishing all monthly financial reports and tree planting receipts. This helps hold them accountable as they work on their goal of planting 1 billion trees (they’re currently at over 68 million trees planted).

Jessica Greene

GOTO Berlin attendees will have an opportunity to meet the team behind Ecosia at their partner booth and learn from one of their engineers, Jessica Greene, during her talk on ‘Making Greener Choices: Connecting People to Their Impact on the Climate Through Technology.’

Jessica’s talk will discuss how Ecosia develops features that create a connection between users and the tree planting projects they fund, allowing them to feel a personal sense of achievement and participation.
