Chet has been on the Android team at Google since 2010, where he has been a developer advocate, an engineer on the graphics and toolkit teams, and the lead for several years of the toolkit team. He has also given many talks on Android at conferences across the world, explaining how things work and how to write better apps.

In 2017, he started a personal project to tell the early history of how Android began, which was finally finished and published in 2021 as Androids: The Team That Built the Android Operating System. It is currently available from No Starch Press, with an audiobook available from Tantor Media. All profits from the book are donated to tech-related charities.
