Robert Virding

Erlang co-inventor, and principal language expert at Erlang Solutions

Robert Virding

Robert Virding is a Co-inventor of one of the world’s biggest tech solution- Erlang! He likes to code alone, but touches the world with his work!

Robert worked a number of years at the Swedish Defense Materiel Administration (FMV) Modeling and Simulations Group before joining Erlang Solutions. He was one of the original members of the Ericsson Computer Science Lab initially, with Ericsson. While at the lab he also did a lot of work on the implementation of logic and functional languages. He left the Ericsson to become an entrepreneur.

Even after his success with Erlang, he wanted to implement a Lisp in Erlang: not only was he curious to see how it would run on and integrate with Erlang and what it would look like. He wanted to experiment with compiling another language on Erlang. And he finally reached that goal too, by designing the Lisp flavored Erlang- another tech solution.

He co-authored the first book on Erlang: Concurrent Programming in Erlang and is regularly invited to teach and present throughout the world.
