Software has a huge impact on the world in so many ways. With the introduction of the cloud, the raw power it takes to run our software has become invisible, but it certainly has not been removed. Imagine all the energy that goes into our smart online solutions — how does that impact our environment and life?

Green Software Engineering is an emerging discipline at the intersection of climate science, software practices and architecture, electricity markets, hardware, and data centre design. We have a responsibility to make sure that we use technology to benefit both humans and the planet. Green Software Engineers are responsible for understanding and reducing the carbon pollution of their applications. Further, imagine all the decisions — good and bad — being done either based on software or directly by software itself every day... And what about ethics? This might be a whole other discussion, though we cannot fully separate the two.

We'd like to invite you to an inspiring round table about sustainability and responsibility. What are we currently doing as a business? As individuals? What are others doing?
