Abstract

Let’s face the facts: ChatGPT is here to stay. It’s popularity is skyrocketing, and so is the multitude of use cases. But do you know why it’s so good? What the underlying technology is?

Join us, as we explore how ChatGPT came to be. Our journey begins with human attention and how applying it to AI models gave birth to Transformers, the most powerful class of algorithms yet, and changed the course of AI forever. We take a deep dive into the fascinating world of Transformers and decouple the WHYs, WHATs and HOWs: Why are they so good? What are their capabilities? And How close can they bring us to Artificial General Intelligence? We then revisit ChatGPT, address why it “went viral”, where it’s placed in the landscape of today’s AI together with other successful attention-based models and explore these models to truly get a feel of the Transformer revolution.

Following the talk, we invite you to participate in an interactive discussion where you can discuss these technologies, voice your opinions and broaden your perspective on the future of AI.
